About Jessica
MOM. Engineer. Educator.
Jessica McCormick grew up in Evansville, Indiana, where she graduated from Central High School in 1999. She moved to Indianapolis to attend college and has remained here ever since. Her undergraduate studies were in engineering management and she completed her Bachelors of Science in Engineering from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI in 2004.
In 2014, Jessica completed her Masters of Science in Technology focusing on engineering education, also from IUPUI. She continued to work full-time and had her first child while pursuing her masters degree.
Jessica’s work is a joint position between Butler University and IUPUI where she’s responsible for the Engineering Dual Degree Program. She has been with the program since 2007 and wears many hats in her role. She is involved in day-to-day operations as well as long-term planning.
Jessica married her husband, Gary, in 2004. They live in Speedway with their 2 children, Hayden and Nathan. After her daughter’s birth, Jessica started running and has participated in numerous races, including multiple 500 Festival Mini-Marathons and a Walt Disney World Glass Slipper Challenge (19 miles in 2 days).
City-County Councilor
Jessica began her public service career with her election to the City-County Council for District 16 in November 2019, and she was re-elected in 2023. Throughout her tenure, she has been a strong advocate for public safety and essential infrastructure, pushing for significant investments in police, firefighters, roads, stormwater management, parks, and trails. She currently chairs the Ethics Committee and serves on the Public Works, Parks & Recreation, Public Safety & Criminal Justice, and Metropolitan & Economic Development Committees.
Commitment to the Community
Jessica’s dedication to her community goes beyond her official duties. As an engineer, she brings technical expertise and a problem-solving approach to her work. Her role as an educator underscores her commitment to addressing the critical need for improved education funding. As a mother, she is passionate about fostering safe and thriving communities for all families.
Vision for District 35
Jessica’s campaign focuses on three main priorities:
Road Safety: Ensuring that roads in Marion and Hendricks Counties are safe, smooth, and well-maintained.
Education Funding: Redirecting resources to adequately support schools, addressing years of underinvestment, and enhancing educational quality.
Community Engagement: Actively listening to Central Indiana residents and attending committee meetings to ensure their voices are heard and represented in policy decisions.
A New Voice in the Senate
Jessica McCormick is determined to offer a new perspective in the Indiana State Senate. Her diverse background and strong community ties make her uniquely equipped to tackle the challenges faced by the families and businesses throughout District 35. As a leader who prioritizes listening to her community and taking action for the well-being of her constituents, she is committed to advocating for the needs of Central Indiana.
